Serena leads the FTC’s Division of Advertising Practices, which promotes truth in advertising through law enforcement, guidance, and policy initiatives. Since joining the FTC in 2000, Serena has been a staff attorney and a supervisor in the Division of Advertising Practices, investigating and litigating matters involving deceptive health claims and other false advertising. Prior to her current appointment, she was Acting Deputy Director in the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection, where she advised senior agency leaders on enforcement matters and policy. She has a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.
