
Loren founded the United Natural Products Alliance in 1991 to address the urgent need for a statutory framework for dietary supplements in the U.S. His previous roles include staff member to Senator Orrin Hatch and President of Nature’s Way Products. He is the recipient of the NutraIngredientsUSA NutraChampion Award, the NBJ Lifetime Achievement Award, and inaugural inductee into the New Hope Hall of Legends, among others. For 45 years, he has been deeply involved in the political, regulatory, and commercial issues facing the global dietary supplement industry, including the development and ultimate passage of DSHEA. He has authored many articles and book chapters on dietary supplements and their regulation. Currently, he is focused on the growing influence of AI and bioengineering in the natural products industry, preservation of the cultural knowledge and wisdom on which the natural products industry is founded, and current trade and tariff policies.
